So what happens when you come to see us?

Consulation

We will ask about the history of your particular problem, as well as taking a full medical history. Depending on your complaint, you may be asked to undress to your underwear.

It is very important to us that you feel at ease during treatment and some patients feel more comfortable in thin, lightweight clothing so that you may still be examined appropriately for us to make a diagnosis.

Diagnosis

Your posture and movements will often be assessed and the area at issue examined. An Osteopath will need to palpate (feel) the area of complaint and quite often other areas relating to your problem.

Other tests such as reflexes or blood pressure may be necessary to help with diagnosing your complaint.

You will be given a diagnosis and a prognosis (outlook) and if your problem is suitable for osteopathic treatment, we will explain what this will involve.

Treatment

If you are happy and consent, we will continue with treatment.

If treatment is not appropriate and we feel that we cannot help, we will advise you as to your next course of action. This might mean referring you back to your GP or to a Consultant or perhaps for an x-ray, an MRI scan, bone density or blood tests.

Temporary Practice Closure

We’re currently taking a short break from practice.

The clinic is expected to reopen in approximately 6 months. We’d love to welcome you when we return.

Thank you for your patience and support.
